In 2020, the adoption of my very first dog, accompanied by the news of his underlying heart disease, became a poignant trigger for my multiple sclerosis diagnosis. In 14 days, I transitioned from my functional self to a state of disability and back. These 14 days left me with a traumatic experience, some ongoing minor symptoms and a dreadful fear for the future. Rebuilding trust with my body has been an ongoing journey, navigating the enigma of “auto” in an autoimmune disease. This mixed media work is an attempt of healing, a visual exploration of an invisible disease, commenting on society's gaze upon multiple sclerosis patients.
